What Are Backflow Testing Services?

The water going out of your house is supposed to travel in only one direction— from the house to the treatment plant. However, sometimes changes in pressure cause the water to flow in the opposite direction, backward through the system. When water flows back, it’s likely to become contaminated and undrinkable.

Factors that cause backflow are water main breaks and fire hydrant issues. Our plumbers use a backflow test device that monitors water leaks and water movement through the system to ensure the water coming into your home is safe to drink. To find out more, contact us today!

How Does Backflow Prevention Work?

Yorkton homeowners hooked into a municipal water supply are always at risk for contaminated water caused by backflow. To protect your family and ensure they always have safe, clean drinking water, consider installing a backflow preventer.
Water from backflow can contain contaminants such as fertilizer, pesticides, human waste, toxic metals, and chemicals.
A backflow preventer is designed to ensure the water flows in its intended direction. There are several kinds of preventers, so contact the experts at Vetted HVAC Services to assess your home’s needs and determine which preventer is best for you.

How Does a Backwater Valve Work?

Backwater valves are installed on your sewer line and are designed to allow water to flow in only one direction. If you experience heavy rainfall or a sewage backup, contaminated water can flow back into your home. A backwater valve contains a small flap that’s open to allowing water to exit the home. The valve uses two small flotation devices placed on each side of the flap that causes the flap to close when they sense water flowing back into the system.
Installing a backwater valve is a simple process. Call us to find out more!
